3.2.4. Other solutions Jung andLee [18] haveproposed a system thatmeasures bio signals (PPG,SKT,GSR) using sensorswhich analyzes themental health then supports an appropriate service to reduce stress and melancholy. The system relates on Bluetooth for WBAN (Wireless BodyAreaNetwork) communication. The communicationbetween thebio signalmea- surementmodule and thePDA(PersonalDigitalAssistant) showedan inefficiency, as a solution theyhaveproposedamethod to shorten theWBANconnection time.Sahuand Sharma [27] have proposed a system that consists of twoparts: 1) a device to correctly detect and categorize the types of brainwaves and the eyemovements, then transfer the data to the software part of the system. 2) aLabVIEWsoftware tomonitor the compo- nentsof thebrainwaves.Mohretal. [29]haveprovidedalayered,hierarchicalmodel for translating rawsensordata intomarkersofbehaviorsandstates related tomentalhealth. 4. Discussion 4.1. Mainfindings The interest on the use of sensors inmental healthcare started in late 90s but itwas not until2010that this topichasreceivedacontinuousattentionfromresearchers.Thiscould beexplainedbythe improvementof technologiesand theability tousesensors inamore efficientway. Themajority of studieswere published in conferences, and themajority of the contribution typesweremodels. Few studies were empirically validated, which reveals there is aneedofmoreempirical evaluation in thisfieldof research. Table 2presents a list of expected topics tobeaddressedby literatureon theuseof sensors, theirmotivation, and the selectedarticles thatdiscuss theseaspects. Accuracy is an important aspect that was taken into account by 5 of the selected papers, but all 5 articles considered the general accuracy of the whole system not the accuracyof thedatageneratedbysensorand if it is accurateenough tobeused, research studying theaccuracyandprecisenessof thecollecteddata isneeded. Securityandconfidentialityareimportantattributeswhilecollectingandtransferring health data, 3 of the selected papersmention security aspects related to data exchange in their study.Research focusing on security challenges and solutions ofmental health systemsusingsensors isneeded. Even tough costs and affordability are important aspects, none of selected papers ad- dresses them.Research invoking theseaspects isdesired. Theuseof sensorsmaygenerate technicalproblems inmentalhealth systems.Only three studies addressed some technical issues: [18]presenteda solution to slowconnec- tivity between the sensor and the other parts of the system; [24] addressed storage and energy issues; and [19]addressedconnectivityandpowerconsumption issues. Although patients perspective and acceptance are critical to the success ofmental health systems, onlyone study [11]mentioned theuser engagement issues. Patients are theoneswearingandusing the sensors, their engagement andcomfort are crucial for an effectiveuseof sensors.Researchonmental healthusers acceptanceandengagement is needed. Even tough clinicians perspective on the use of sensors is important andmayhelp improve thefiled, noneof the selectedpapersaddressed this aspect.
