A purpose builtmobile application is used to combineGPS datawith an emotional analysisofTwitterpostsandcontextualactivitiesofparticipantsusingafuzzylogic engine.Datagenerated from the application can showhowemotions, triggeredby differentactivitiesandeventsare linkedto locations throughastratifiedrepresenta- tiononamap.Twoseparate studiesarepresentedwheredata is captured fromstu- dents in thecityofLeo´n,Guanajuato,Mexicoandatauniversitycampus.Anemo- tional frequency analysis is performed after several days of data collection from which spatial and temporal emotionalmaps have been determined. This prelimi- nary analysis of these emotionalmaps suggests the feasibility of this approach for supportingbetterunderstandingofemotionalwell-beingpatterns ina smart city. Understanding the social, economic and cultural factors that lead to these trends isvital inorder for schools, universities andmunicipal authorities to initiatepre-epmtiveearlydetectionsocialsuportprogrammestoidentifyandtreatpeople suseptableandvulnerable to theseconditions. Therehavebeenanumberofsocial,psychological studiesandcomputationalappli- cations investigating the capturing and analysis of emotion andwell-being in different usergroups.
