The Klaus Tschira Stiftung
In 1995 physicist Dr. h.c. Dr.-Ing. E. h. Klaus Tschira (1940–2015) created the
German foundation known as the Klaus Tschira Stiftung. This organization is one
of Europe’s largest privately funded non-profi
t foundations. It promotes the advance-
ment of natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science and strives to enhance
the understanding of these fi
elds. The focal points of the foundation are “Natural
Science—Right from the Beginning,” “Research,” and “Science Communication.”
The involvement of the Klaus Tschira Stiftung begins in kindergartens and contin-
ues in primary and secondary schools, universities, and research facilities. The
foundation champions new methods in the transfer of scientifi
c knowledge, and
