22 | Rainer Bucher Will man verstehen, wie das Verhalten von Individuen und Kollektiven in der entwickelten Moderne gesteuert wird, so ist es nützlich, bei einer spezifischen Form der Macht anzusetzen, die Foucault „Pastoralmacht“ nennt. Sie bringt, von der Kirche zum Staat gewandert, erst das moder- ne Subjekt im doppelten Sinne von sujet und Selbstbewusstwerdung des Einzelnen hervor. Das Subjekt ist nicht als Ort der Authentizität und Iden- tität zu denken, sondern als geformt in spezifischen Machtstrukturen. Das gilt auch und besonders für das (neo-)liberale Konzept des „freien“ Sub- jekts, das in Selbstverantwortung und Selbstbestimmung sein Leben als unabschließbare Folge von Projekten gestalten und permanent optimieren muss. Bei diesem Subjekt setzen nun Herrschaftstechniken des aktuellen Souveräns, des kulturell hegemonial gewordenen Kapitalismus an, denen unter Rückgriff auf Analysen von Ulrich Bröckling, Eva Illouz oder Hartmut Rosa nachgegangen wird. From church to state, it reveals the double aspect of the modern subject as a sujet and self-conscious individual. The subject is not defined by authenticity and identity, it is governed by specific power structures. The same holds especially true for the (neo)liberal concept of the “free” subject that autonomously and self-determinedly lives life as a se- quence of infinite projects driven by the permanent need for optimisation. The subject is thus subjected to the dominance structures of the current paradigm – culturally hegemonic capitalism – which will be explored based on analyses by Ulrich Bröckling, Eva Illouz, and Hartmut Rosa.
