Then, the transfer of unconscious memories within a collective mem- ory and how they can shape the political culture of a society in ways that still resonate in the present will be examined on the example of Carinthian crypto- Protestantism in the 17th and 18th century. The research applies cultural science concepts according to Jan and Aleida Assmann together with the habitus concept of sociologist Norbert Elias in order to explain the cross-generational transfer of behavioural patterns. | BIOGRAPHY Johannes Thonhauser (geb. 1981) stammt aus St. Paul im Lavanttal, wo er auch das Stiftsgymnasium der Benediktiner besuchte. Danach studierte er Theologie, Geschichte und Soziologie in Graz. 2017 promovierte er an der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät in Graz. 2019 erschien seine Disserta- tion im Böhlau-Verlag unter dem Titel „Die Kirche und die ‚Kärntner See- le‘. Habitus, kulturelles Gedächtnis und katholische Kirche in Kärnten, ins- besondere vor 1938“. Gegenwärtig lehrt und forscht er als Hochschullehrer am Standort Klagenfurt der Kirchlichen Pädagogischen Hochschule Graz.
