18 Mobile Culture Studies. The Journal 6 2o20 (Travel) Birgit Englert, Sandra Vlasta | Travel Writing crucial help in bringing this special issue to fruition. We are grateful for the opportunity to publish these dedicated articles in this journal in particular, as its online format allowed the individual contributions to explore the relationship between text and the visual in their own ways. In fact, all of the articles include visual elements, thus reconstructing the relations that lie at the heart of the issue. Further, we would like to thank the participants of the two workshops that gave rise to this special issue — including those who did not write articles but who contri- buted to this issue by raising questions that fed into our thinking about the topic. Last but not least, thanks go to Carolyn Benson for her careful proofreading, which made this introduction much more readable. Bibliography Albrecht, Wolfgang, and Hans-Joachim Kertscher. 1999.
