Even though the mirroring of one’s own political ideas can be traced throughout the itin- erary of the visit and the alliances between the traveler and local hosts, the texts and images created in the course of these trips correspond to a type of seeing that refuses to immediately subordinate what is seen to a theoretical model. They are shaped by a common attempt to take a theoretically undogmatic view and to the connection between political practice and changing location.
