Augie Fleras | Ethnic and Aboriginal Media in Canada 173 media can assist in the integration migrants and minorities into society, they have yet to institutionally integrate diversity. And because people pay attention to media that pay attention to them, namely, ethnic and aboriginal media, therein lies their success and popularity: In securing a normative blueprint that buffers as it bonds, that bridges as it crosses borders, that insulates as it integrates, aboriginal and ethnic media are proving pivotal as social capital in advancing a living together without drifting apart. 6.
