3.5. Effect of theCRF1RAntagonistCP154,526onCorticalCytokinemRNAsFollowingStress
Having twice shownpreviously that at CRF1R antagonist blocks cytokine induction arising
duringethanolwithdrawal in thecortex [38], thefinalexperiment focusedondeterminingwhether
thedrugwouldalsoblock the inductiondue to stress. Figure 7 illustrates the effect ofCP154,526
oncytokinemRNAs in thecortex. Figure7Ashows that stress increasedCCL2(63%,p<0.05)and
this effectwasnotblockedbyCP154,526. Similarly, Figure 7B shows thatTNFαwas increasedby
stress (41%,p<0.01)andagainthestresseffectwasunalteredbyCP.Finally, theprofileofactionon
IL-1βwassimilarasshowninFigure7Cwhichshowsthat IL-1βwassignificantly increasedbystress
(55%,p<0.05)andCP154,526 failedtoblockthis induction.
