Freitag | F 899 NY. Während der Sommermonate besuchte sie Kurse an der Columbia University. Sie wur- de Mathematik-Instruktorin am Hollins College, einem Frauen-College in Roanoke, Virgi- nia. Gleichzeitig setzte sie ihre Studien an der Columbia University fort. Sie baute eine Ma- thematikabteilung auf und vollzog eine universitäre Laufbahn bis zum „full Professor“. 1971 ging sie formal in Pension, lehrte aber bis kurz vor ihrem Tod. Sie war die erste Präsidentin der „Mathematical Association of America“ der Sektion Virginia-Maryland-Washington. Wissenschaftlich hatte sich H. F. mit Zahlentheorie (rekursiven Reihen) und insbesondere mit Fibonacci Reihen beschäftigt.
