M. G.s Name wird vor allem mit Forschungen auf dem Gebiet der Flechtenflora verbunden. Ihre Arbeiten trugen wesentlich zur Identifikation und Bestimmung der Flechtenflora in Israel bei. Sie erforschte u. a. die Verwendungsmöglichkeit von Flechten als Bio-Indikatoren bei Luftverschmutzung. Aus ihrer Arbeit resultierten auch weiterführende Kenntnisse über die symbiotische Beziehung zwischen Flechtenteilen.
