Premiere at the IAA Frankfurt 2011 The impetus wasn’t the perfection of the concept but its implementation. And thus, the StreetScoo- ter was presented for the first time in 2011 as model “A12” at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The little one was met with great interest and Prof. Kampker met with the German Chancellor. A year earlier, in 2010, StreetScoo- ter GmbH had been founded. The encounter with Chancellor Merkel had far-reaching consequences. They definitely reached Deutsche Post’s Post Tower headquarters in Bonn. Various newspapers had reported on the young company and about the Chancellor’s meeting with Prof. Kampker at the IAA. One of these articles came across the desk of Jürgen Gerdes. The member of the board of the Deutsche Post DHL Group read it and in short order, he set out for Aachen, where a start-up called StreetScooter GmbH had obviously developed an eponymous electric vehicle, something he’d been looking for in a similar form for a long time. As the original model of StreetScooter was entirely tailor-made to meet the needs of city motorists, it was individually customizable. De- signed with two to three seats, an additional child seat could also be installed. Das Mitglied im Vorstand der Deutschen Post DHL Group las und es dauerte nicht lange, bis er sich nach Aachen aufmachte, wo ein Start-up namens StreetScooter GmbH offensichtlich ein gleichnamiges Elektrofahrzeug entwickelt hatte, nach dem er in ähnlicher Form schon lange suchte.
