We assume that these folds were caused by moistening the folios with parchment glue and by flattening them in 1975. All folios show cuts or tears of different sizes on the edges. Most folios have small tears measuring only a few millimetres. Longer tears measuring up to 25 cm appear on the folios 1, 2, 3, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 18 (Fig. 7). Most of the long tears have been secured during former conservation treatments. Bridges of silk gauze, transparent paper and pres- sure sensitive tape were used to mend tears, see chapter on history.
