Based on the circular model of Russell, in this study we created a new Depression
label from two labels, Valence and Arousal, which are given in DEAP. Figure 3 and
formula 1 explain the definition of Depression in this study.

Here, D is Depression, V is Valence, A is Arousal. In addition, in order to efficiently
advance the analysis in the future, the value of D was normalized to the range of -1 to 1.
Arousal(A) and Valence(V) are range of -2 to 2, respectively. For example, when A is -
1 and V is -1, D is 0.
2.2. Feature generation for electrodes
2.2.1 Importance of emotion recognition
DEAP has multiple types of files for processing. In this research, we used a data set for
MATLAB, which has abundant library of signal processing. Table 1 shows the format
of DEAP.
