Figure 1. Conceptual diagram of motivation system for ethical consumption 2.1. Mode.TOKYO Mode.TOKYO is a smartphone application that enables the transmission of Japanese culture and philosophy. It provides information, in English, French, and Japanese, regarding various sites and facilities where one can experience contemporary Japanese culture. By scanning a quick response (QR) code for each article, one can share, via a social network service (SNS), digital content related to an article or check a map of the site or facilities introduced in the article. Figure 2 shows an image of the application interface. Data related to the digital content available via Mode.TOKYO can be collected and analyzed; such data could include access status, entry pathways, status of shares on an SNS, number of check-ins at sites, and facilities introduced in articles. In this way, specialists can analyze and interpret influence rates, differences in connection pathways, and so on, enabling analysis of effects on behavioral decisions made by foreign visitors to Japan.
