2.2. FuzzyLogic
Developed byLotfiA.Zadeh ([11]) fuzzy logic is an approximate reasoning technique
for processing uncertain data by using linguistic quantifiers (fuzzy sets) and human in-
terpretable rules tomodelandreasonabout the relationshipswithin thedata. This idea is
basedon the reasoningusedbyhumans,whereaprecisenumerical inputof information
isnot requiredorgarenteed. ([12]).
2.3. RULER
Within thismodel,different toolsareusedtodeveloptheemotionalmodels.Oneof these
is knownas the ”EmotionalMeter ”,This tool is composedof agridof fourquadrants,
whereEachdimension isbasedon theRussellmodelofemotion. The tool isbuilton the
premise that emotionspeopleexpresscanbe representedaspointson twodimensional a
planeofenergyandpleasantnessusingnumbersor a set ofdescriptiveemotionalwords
that specifyeachquadrant[13].
2.4. SocialNetworks
SocialnetworkssuchasTwitterandFacebookareplatformsinwhichusersexpressopin-
ions and personal data. User concented information can be used for specific purposes
to improve our understanding on a large scale of the emotional change of users under
different scenarios, such as detecting an emotional crisis in a user, customer-provider
relationshipsand improving theuser experience.[14].
2.5. GlobalPositioningSystem
Initiallydevelopedasamilitary systemto fulfillU.S.militaryneeds.GPSprovidescon-
tinious positioning and timing information, anywhere in theworld [15]. Geolocational
information isnowintegratedasstandardfeatureswithinmostsmartphonesandavaliabe
on a opt-in basis for a huge variaty ofmobile applications, from navigation and route
planning to fitness trackers. The additional capability of associating georeferencing to
personal and socialmedia enable us to contextualise the users interactionswith respect
to their activities, surroundingsand real-timeevents.
3. ProposedMethodology
This paper, builds on our previouswork in [16] describing an architecture toMonitor
andHandle Emotions inWork Scenarios. Both the previous and current systems uses
IBMWatson ToneAnalyzer service that uses linguistic analysis to detect emotions in
Twitter posts (Tweets). [17].This tool allowsus to translategeo-referenceduserTweets
intoour system,andobtaina setof5values, representinganemotional interpretationof
user tweets. The table1 showsanexampleof the responseof aTweet as an input to the
ToneAnalyzer.
