sUMMAry AND OUtLOOK
the relationship between text and picture has changed several times in histo-
ry. in the 19th century, innovations in technical production and reproduction
were accompanied by the growing importance of the picture, in particular after
the second half of the 19th century, and they gained tremendous momentum
through audiovisual media, film and television.55 in the internet-based media of
