TheLocalDisasterRiskReductionFund(LDRRF),acomponentofCDMPpro-
vides some resources and financial support to the most vulnerable communities
affectedbyaclimaticdisaster.ApproximatelyUSD5millionwasdisbursedto local
governments in the2013–2014fiscalyear fromthis fund. Inaddition to theLDRRF,
theMoDMRalso runs several social safety net programsmeant to support climate
affected communities such asFoodForWork (FFW),TestRelief,Bridge andCul-
verts (FFW), Execution of Risk Reduction Programme, Relief and Rehabilitation
Programme,VulnerableGroupFeeding(VGF)andVulnerableGroupDevelopment
(VGD). Other disaster and relief related programmes include the National Relief
FundandPrimeMinister’sReliefFund (Huqet al. 2016) (Fig.19.5).
19.3.3 ClimateChangePolicies inBangladesh
BangladeshwasanearlymoveramongstLeastDevelopedCountries (LDCs) tocre-
ate aNationalAdaptation ProgrammeofAction (NAPA) and a dedicated national
policyonclimatechange.Stemming fromtheNAPAprocess, theMinistryofEnvi-
ronmentandForests,alongwithDFIDandotherpartners,formulatedtheBangladesh
ClimateChangeStrategyandActionPlan(BCCSAP)in2009.Thedocumentguides
climatechangepolicies,programsandprojects in thecountryand is in linewith the
government’s vision to eradicate poverty and achieve economic prosperity for its
