The text should mention the huge diversity of experiences and the fact that a choice of 20  interviews can’t be representative. Nonetheless the 20  interviews should be positioned in a general context, e.g. by indicating the whole numbers of inmates : Total number of inmates : ~ 205.000 Died ~ 100.000 Survived ~ 105.000 Living survivors in 2000 (estimated) : ~ 2000 Total number of MSDP interviews : ~ 800 Video interviews in the exhibition : 20 This text should be accompanied by the main characteristics of the interviewees, like – length of imprisonment in Mauthausen, – family members having died by Nazi persecution, – age when entering the persecution situation – level of education – professions – language of interviews, etc. The participants discussed also the question how to arrange the videos in space. [This referred to the then existing proposal of the video exhibition (by Sturminger), prescrib- ing a linear ordering.] One proposal was to organise the videos by the date of the be- ginning of persecution which could show the expansion and radicalisation of Nazism in Europe on the one hand and break up national categories on the other hand. Frank Stern proposed instead no systematisation but to arrange the videos by random. VII. Further steps Tasks to be performed by the MSDP and exhibition team and the regional co-ordina- tors : 1) Selection of video parts : Please select not only the 20–30  minutes of the final video but 10  minutes more !
