The Authors 246 Augie Fleras, Prof. Ph.D., is professor at the Department of Sociology, University of Waterloo, Waterloo Ontario, Canada. His research focusses on ethnic minorities in Canada. Kenneth Starck, Prof. Ph.D., is a former journalist and current dean of the Zayed University College of Communication and Media Sciences in Dubai. Before joining Zayed, he was professor at the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication where he served as director for 17 years. His interests center on role of the media in society, including media freedom and responsibility. Svetlana Serebryakova, Prof. Dr., is professor and chair of the Theory and Practice of Translation Department at Stavropol State University. Her research interests include linguistcs, semantics, and the language of mass media.
