The new ecclesial structure shouldunify the three existentOrthodox Churches intheUkraine, so thatallorthodoxUkrainianscanenjoy the fullness ofEucharisticcommunionwiththerestoftheOrthodoxworld.However,theMP isdisapprovingstronglyof thismove. InitsAppeal from17December2018, the Synodof theUOC-MPdid not recognise Constantinople’s jurisdiction inUk- raine,northecanonicallegitimacyofthe“UnificationCouncil”anddeclaredthe newlyestablishedChurchasschismatic.
