10.2 MethodandActivities
Theprojectmethodwascollaborativewithmultidisciplinaryteamsthatdesignedand
implemented12MOOCs.Theproductionof theMOOCsandOERwasdeveloped
throughmultidisciplinary teams:specialists in theareasofenergy,educational tech-
nology and educational research,whohaveworked together in the development of
MOOCsandOER,aswellasinputtingthemintooperationandeducationalresearch
ineachoneof the formativeexperiences.
The collaborativeworkwas a substantial element to achieve these designs and
their implementations,where two researchgroupswith strategic focus coordinated
these actions: the Energy and Climate ChangeGroup, the School of Engineering
andSciencesandtheResearchandInnovationGroupinEducation, fromtheSchool
of Humanities and Education, of Tecnologico deMonterrey. The activities were
developed throughfouraxes:experimentationwithprototypingpractices,discovery
and linking through social innovation projects), open education (with open train-
ing instancesandopen innovation), collaboration (co-creationandnetworking)and
research (analyzingopenpractices) (Fig.10.4).
Initsbeginnings(2017),thecoursesweretaughtthroughtheopenplatformsMex-
icoXandEdX.Currently (2019), the courses are taught onlyon theEdXplatform.
Thewebsite for the promotion of the courses on theEdXplatform is presented in
Fig.10.5.
Thegamificationwas a transversal integration in the 12MOOCsof the project,
aswellasemergingtechnologies thathadnotpreviouslybeenworkedoninMOOCs
(biometrics, virtual and remote laboratories, for example). The gamification board
is reflected inFig.10.6.
