Exercise: Causes and reasons As we have already mentioned, the things we normally do have a cause, which might also point to an objective or something we want to get. “Cause” is the more general word which explains our conduct, while the word “reason” is used for those causes that also justify what we do, and for those causes that also introduce the moral dimension and determine whether it was morally good.
