154 REfLECTIvE COsMOPOLITANIsM the papers, open the box, show them the content and give one point for each recog- nized object. The winner will be the team that has recognized the most objects. Exercise: Cues for recognition After doing the previous activity, answer the following questions. • If you guessed correctly what one or more of the objects were, what element hel- ped? • If you guessed correctly what one or more of the objects were, what mental pro- cess helped you? • If you did not guess correctly what any of the objects were, what deceived you? • Did the fact that you were already familiar with the objects and had already used them before touching them “in the dark” help you to know what they were? If so, why? • If you had never seen the objects before, could you have guessed what they were? Why? • What were your feelings when you saw the objects that you had guessed co- rrectly with your own eyes? Why? • What were your feelings when you saw the objects you had not guessed co- rrectly with your own eyes? Why? Activity: Imagination or reality? Use a sheet and a lamp, as in the previous activity. Ask two or more students to act out some scenarios in order to make their bodies appear deformed on the other side. For example, if the lamp is next to the sheet and one of the students stands next to it, his or her shadow will appear to be a normal size. But if another student stands next to the other side of the lamp and goes towards whoever is still next to it, he or she will seem like a giant who is about to attack a poor victim. Use your imagination to create different stories. Afterwards, reflect with your students if the reality of the spectators is different from that of the actors, and in what sense. Exercise a): Is it real or not? Say if you define the following things as real or not. Real Not real ?
