Der Projekt-Kick-off liegt nur wenige Jahre zurück. 2008 war es, als der Startschuss fiel. Ort der Hand- lung: das WZL (Werkzeugmaschinenlabor) der RWTH Aachen. Das Kind wurde schon bald auf den Namen StreetScooter getauft und eine E-mobile Erfolgs- story nahm ihren Lauf. 2009 war die Stunde der ersten Vorstudie gekommen. Die Vorstudie war ein Konzept aus CAD-Modell plus Excel-Berechnungen plus Simulationen plus Powerpoint. Dann wurde eine alte Industriehalle angemietet und die Pro- duktion und das Fahrzeug im Cardboard Enginee- ring (aus Pappe) 1:1 aufgebaut. Konzeptionell war das der erste echte Schritt aus der Theorie heraus – von zwei- zu dreidimensional. 2010 folgte die formale Gründung der StreetScooter GmbH als universitäre Ausgründung. The project kick-off was just a few years ago. It was in 2008 when the starting signal sounded. Scene: The WZL (Laboratory for Machine Tools) of the RWTH, Aachen. The child was soon thereaf- ter christened StreetScooter and an e-mobile suc- cess story began its way in the world. 2009 saw the first preliminary study. The preliminary study was a concept made from CAD model plus Excel cal- culations plus simulations and PowerPoint. Then an old industrial hall was rented and the produc- tion and the vehicle built in Cardboard Enginee- ring on a 1:1 scale. Conceptually, this was the first real step away from the theory – from two to three-dimensional. In 2010 followed the formal establishment of StreetScooter GmbH as a university spin-off.
