Man fokussiere auf den Konfigurationsprozess Autos werden heute sehr stark auf ein Gesamtsys- tem ausgelegt und entwickelt. Das Fahrzeugkonzept wird definiert, die Anforderungen an die Teilkom- ponenten werden in der Zulieferpyramide top- down abgeleitet und die Komponentenentwicklung angestoßen. Schließlich werden die Teilkomponen- ten wieder zum Gesamtsystem integriert. Ein Auto wird so auf der ganzen Welt immer gleich verkauft. Der Kunde kann im Nachhinein kaum noch etwas ändern. Computer waren ursprünglich genauso aufgebaut. Dann tauchte der PC von IBM auf, der die Branche revolutionierte. Erstmals kam es zu einer Trennung zwischen Gesamtsystem und Modu- len. Das Prinzip: Fertige Lösungen wurden zu einem Gesamtsystem konfiguriert. Standardschnittstel- len ermöglichten die dezentrale Weiterentwicklung von Teilkomponenten. Oder anders ausgedrückt: Die Pyramide wird flach. Standardlösungen aus dem Regal. Aber nicht von der Stange. Es kommt darauf an, die Technologieentwicklung von der Produktentwicklung zu trennen, um in einem dezentralen Netzwerk auf Standardlösungen zurückgreifen zu können.
