Freiheitsgrade eigene Lösungen entwickeln zu können. Wir haben zudem bewusst viele KMU aus der Region integriert. Die vertreten oft eine etwas hemdsärmelige Herangehensweise. Wir hatten allerdings selber KMU- oder Start-up-Strukturen, in denen nicht alle Prozesse perfekt definiert sind und es noch kein Handbook für alles gibt. Unter diesen Umständen gelingt die Zusammenarbeit mit KMU besser, weil die Arbeitsweisen sich ähneln. Welche Probleme haben Sie zu Beginn einkalkuliert? Es gab sicherlich ein paar Hürden, die von vornherein absehbar waren. Beispielsweise das Thema Homologation. Was bedeutet Homologation? Homologation bezeichnet den Prozess, durch den ein Produkt seine Straßenzulassung erhält. In den ersten Wochen unseres Projekts war uns nicht klar, wie wir das alles machen würden. Es gibt ein Standardprüfprogramm, das durchlau- fen werden muss. Man muss beispielsweise nach Schweden, um das ABS46 zu testen und zu program- mieren. Man muss Crashtests absolvieren, mit der DEKRA47 gewisse Prüfungen durchlaufen, bei denen die Sicherheitsfunktionen des Fahrzeuges unter- sucht werden. Gibt es ein Backup-System? Sind also beispielsweise gewisse Sicherheitsfunktio- nen doppelt ausgeführt? Erst dann erhält man die Straßenzulassung. Es gab also Herausforderun- gen, die uns von Anfang an bewusst waren. Wäh- rend des Projekts gab es immer wieder Phasen, in denen man vor einem Berg stand und sich fragte, wie der zu meistern sei. Letztlich haben wir immer einen Weg gefunden. Tja, Probleme ansonsten …? Scheitern? Mit dem Risiko des Scheiterns haben wir uns weniger befasst. Wir waren immer sehr selbst- bewusst und motiviert und haben konstant an den Erfolg unseres Projekts geglaubt. Die Mög- lichkeit, das Projekt schon zu einem frühen Zeit- punkt zu beenden, gab es nicht. Das Ziel war klar: das Produkt in Serie zu bringen. Insofern gab es What problems did you make provisions for at the beginning? There were certainly a few hurdles that were foreseeable from the outset. For example, the issue of homologation. What does homologation mean? Homologation means the process by which a product receives its approval to go on the road. In the first few weeks of our project, we did not understand how we would accomplish everything. There is a standard test program that has to be performed. For example, you are required to go to Sweden to test and program the ABS46. Crash tests must be carried out, certain tests must be perfor- med with DEKRA47, in which the safety functions of the vehicle are examined. Is there a backup system? Are, for example, certain safety functions duplicated? Only then can you get the road appro- val. So there were challenges that we were aware of from the beginning. During the project, there were always times when you were standing in front of a mountain and wondering how to master it. Ultimately, we have always found a way. Well, problems, apart from that ...? Failure? We were less concerned about the risk of failure. We were always very self-confident and motivated and have consistently believed in the success of our project. There was no option to ter- minate the project at an early stage. The goal was clear: the serial production of the product. In this respect, there was also no plan B to which we would have limited ourselves, for example, to the development of a research vehicle. It was more a matter of technical risks, such as homologation. Because it is like this: at the moment that we offer the vehicle, we bear a responsibility and a risk. That means that it is relevant to adequately cover all necessary safety functions. These are the risks on which we concentrated.
