Innovative vehicle development Wow, an electric car! Surprised? No, that’s not what makes it unique. What makes StreetScooter spe- cial is not a new conception of a series producti- on-ready and cheap electric vehicle and special components, but the completely new way of look- ing at the whole issue of vehicle development. In other words, a holistic approach to product develop- ment and production processes. This comprehensive approach represents a decisive factor for achieving the desired economic solution. The decisions that are already made during product development will later translate to nearly 80 % of the total cost. The result of the holistic view of the production pro- cess is a modular vehicle architecture, with which different versions of electrically powered vehicle types can be realized easily and economically. The prototype presentation to potential customers can happen within a year – after defining the de - sired requirements and including a customized tes- ting. StreetScooter’s development and production processes represent a novel approach to automo- bile development and production, especially with regard to electromobility. Detachment from previ- ous ways of thinking and methods shows that not only can an electric vehicle be quickly, economi- cally, and use-specifically designed, but also small series of electric vehicles can be produced econo- mically. In this respect, StreetScooter represents a quasi-disruptive element in the automotive indus- try and enables hitherto non-viable electric vehicle solutions, especially for fleet operators. Innovative Fahrzeugentwicklung Aha, ein Elektroautomobil! Überraschung? Nein, das allein ist nicht das Einzigartige. Das Besondere an StreetScooter ist eben nicht nur die Neukonzep- tion eines serienreifen und günstigen Elektromo- bils und spezieller Komponenten, sondern der völlig neue Blick auf das gesamte Thema der Fahrzeu- gentwicklung. Es geht dabei um die ganzheitliche Betrachtung von Produktentwicklung und Produk- tionsprozessen. Diese umfassende Sichtweise stellt einen entscheidenden Faktor für die angestrebte wirtschaftliche Lösung dar. Die Entscheidun- gen, die bereits während der Produktentwicklung getroffen werden, machen später rund 80 % der Gesamtkosten aus. Das Ergebnis der ganzheit- lichen Betrachtung des Produktionsprozesses ist eine modulare Fahrzeugarchitektur, mit der unterschiedliche Varianten elektrisch betriebener Fahrzeugtypen einfach und wirtschaftlich reali- siert werden können. Die Prototypen-Präsenta- tion bei potenziellen Kunden ist innerhalb eines Jahres möglich – ab Festlegung der gewünschten Anforderungen und inklusive eines kundenspezi- fischen Testings. StreetScooter stellt mit seinen Entwicklungs- und Produktionsprozessen einen neuartigen Ansatz der Automobilentwicklung und -produktion dar, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Elektromobilität.
