Acknowledgments
Delivering a book in less than eight weeks from start to finish,
par-ticularly
during and in response to a global pandemic, cannot be
achieved without the support and generosity of many people.
First and foremost, we thank our stellar roster of contributors,
who without exception willingly gave of their time and expertise and
graciously accepted strict deadlines at a time of serious personal and
professional challenges. We and our readers are indebted to you.
Thanks also to our research assistants from the University of
Ottawa Centre for Health Law, Policy and Ethics and the University
of Ottawa Public Law Centre for their superb support: Arianne Kent,
Émilie Hogue, and Amber Miller. We are also very thankful to JD candi-
date Kelli White, Adjunct Professor Bryan Thomas, and Visiting Fellow
Stephen Bindman for their insights, edits, and deft management of the
many moving parts needed to make this expedited book a reality.
We are grateful for the support of the University of Ottawa’s
Associate Vice-President, Research, Promotion and Development
Martine Lagacé, and for financial assistance from the Office of the
Vice-President, Research, and Faculty of Law Deans Adam Dodek
(Common Law Section). Their financial support made it possible for
this book to be accessible to all. And many thanks to the terrific staff
at the University of Ottawa Press, led by Lara Mainville, especially
Maryse Cloutier and Clémence Labasse, who agreed to move heaven
and earth to publish this book in record time.
