Beutelbücher#
Pouch Books (purse books, German: Beutelbuecher), "pocket books" of the 15th /16th centuries; their covers were lengthened into a purse-like construction which could be attached to a belt; one of the 17 such books that have survived is kept at Kremsmuenster monastery. In Austria, there are seven surviving works of art which show such pouch books (e.g. St. Matthew at the cathedral of Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria, and St. John at the parish church of Poeggstall, Lower Austria).
