b. Varnsdorf, Czech Republic (then Warnsdorf), Nov. 14, 1816, d. Vienna, April 27, 1896, sculptor. Renowned representative of the Ringstrasse era, especially talented in creating monuments and architectural sculptures; T. von Hansen often collaborated with him.
