Kolschitzky, Georg Franz#
b. Poland, 1640, d. Vienna, Feb. 20, 1694, merchant and courier. Interpreter at the Oriental Trade Company in Belgrade. Was raised to Imperial Interpreter for services rendered as an emissary during the second siege of Vienna by the Turks in 1683 (see: Turkish Sieges of Vienna. Obtained one of the first licences to serve coffee in Vienna and therefore was regarded for a long time as the "father" of the Vienna Coffeehouse.
