Began his career as a ship's boy and circus musician, his first record "Heimweh" (1956) sold about 8 million copies. From 1962 career in musicals and as an actor in popular films. 1986 Q. took over the television series "Grossstadtrevier". By 1999 he had sold more than 50 million recordings in twelve languages; amongst his biggest successes were the songs "Die Gitarre und das Meer", "Junge, komm bald wieder" and "100 Mann und ein Befehl". 17 gold records and numerous other awards.
