CASE OF EMBANKMENT DAM [3] Due to the Iwate-Miyagi Nairiku Earthquake in 2008, settlement without sliding deformation was observed at Isawa Dam (ECRD, Fig. 3). The dynamic strength tests for construction materials and deformation analysis using cumulative damage theory were conducted. Through the analysis, the settlement can be reproduced accurately and it is important to consider saturated/unsaturated conditions in dam body for accurate evaluation (see Fig. 4).
