SUMMARY Floods，rainstorm，typhoon and earthquake are extreme events nowadays， which may lead dam incidents or even failure. Dam emergency monitoring is an essential non-engineering measure in emergency action for incidents hazard mitigation. The paper analyzes the features of the above extreme events and probable accidents. Emergency inspection procedures, monitoring techniques are presented.
