The proband study on public roads was a first step in building up a database that
represents human driving behaviour, which could be used for future development of
ADAS algorithms. The research has demonstrated that the new ACC controller showed
the desired human-like behaviour in following another vehicle. This will increase driver
acceptance, which, along with increased traffic safety, must be one of the primary goals
of newly developed ADAS functionalities.
