main ideaof apan-orthodox structure shouldbenotpossessing, butworship,
which is actually a liturgical category, deeply rooted in the liturgical life of the
OrthodoxChurch.36
4.2. National level
At the national level, the issue of canonicity is one of the biggest sources of
conflict. In this context,NicholasDenysenkoproposes themodelof“canonical
plurality”37 as a realistic process for achievingpeace, at least inorder to avoid
violence.TheproblemofChurchpropertyshouldbeconsidered,too.Practically,
theOrthodoxChurchesfromUkraineshouldundertaketheexistentmodelofthe
OrthodoxChurchinAmerica(OCA)38–whereasimilarsituationoccurredwhen
theMPbestoweditwithautocephaly,buttheEPdidnotacknowledgeit.Despite
this administrativedivision, theChurcheshavepreservedEucharistic commu-
nion, so that the foundation of inter-Orthodox cooperationwas not affected.
Eventually, theystartedtoworktogether, firstwithintheStandingConferenceof
theCanonicalOrthodoxBishopsintheAmericas(SCOBA)from1960until2010,
and thenwithin theAssembly of Bishops. In theUkrainian context, a similar
modelofcooperationcanbeelaboratedbyaPan-OrthodoxCouncilofaSynaxis
ofOrthodoxPrimates– inessencea“panel”whereallOrthodoxChurchescan
bring theirowncontributions to the topic– tocorrespondto the local realities.
Firstly, theaimofsuchaplatformshouldbe therestaurationof theEucharistic
communionbetweentheMPandtheEP, inasmuchas theEucharist is seenhere
asa“sourceofhealing,not itsoutcome”39. Thereby, the restaurationofEuchar-
istic communionwould not require (or enforce) primarily an administrative
union, but it could encourage it step by step. Secondly, this Pan-Orthodox
Council shouldaimtofindanadministrativeprocedure thatensuresapeaceful
and transparent transition of the parishes to the new Ukrainian Orthodox
