Wer hat getrommelt? Professor Schuh. Auf dieser Basis haben eben auch diese 18 oder 20 Professoren, die grundsätzlich die Idee alle gut fanden, ihr Commitment gegeben. Und dann ist daraus erst mal eine professorale Pro- jektgruppe entstanden und die Geschäftsstelle Elek- tromobilität ins Leben gerufen worden. Mit die erste Erkenntnis war dann: Wir können vieles, aber eben nicht alles. Wir brauchen auch ein starkes Indus- trie-Konsortium an unserer Seite. Das dann erfolgreich akquiriert wurde? Es ist ein Industrie-Konsortium aufgebaut worden. Letzten Endes, so nach einem Jahr, hatten sich zwischen 50 und 75 Industriepartner gefunden, die sich bereit erklärt hatten, das Projekt mit zu unterstützen. 2010 wurde dann die StreetScooter GmbH gegründet. Weg vom Unternehmen, hin zum Produkt: War eigentlich das Design beim StreetScooter nie ein Thema? Es gab einen externen Designer … … der hat sich hingesetzt und einen Stift genom- men und gesagt: So muss das Produkt aussehen? Design stand nicht im Vordergrund, sondern Design to Cost. Was der Designer an Gestaltung vor- schlug, musste immer auch unter der Low-Cost-Prä- misse realisiert werden können. Bei unserer Art der Produktentwicklung haben wir konsequent für einzelne Komponenten immer die kostengünstigste Lösung in der Entwicklung gesucht. Wir haben wie bei allem so auch innerhalb der Produktgestaltung stets Alternativen in Betracht gezogen und so immer kostengünstigere, aber nach unserer Einschätzung auch gleichwertige Lösungen ermittelt. Das war die grundsätzliche Herangehensweise? Design to Cost? Ja, sicher. Wir hatten im Konsortium zum Bei- spiel Kunststoffspezialisten und Werkzeugspezialisten, die immer rechtzeitig sagen konnten: Okay, so etwas kann man zwar produzieren, wird aber sehr teuer. As always, we have always considered alternati- ves, including in the product design, and we have always found more cost-effective and, in our opin- ion, equivalent solutions.
