Ist das eine Pionierleistung, die Sie durchgezogen haben? Sind Sie Evoluzzer, haben Sie etwas weiter- entwickelt oder sind Sie sogar mehr Revoluzzer? Ich glaube schon, dass wir Strukturen auf- gebrochen und gegen große Widerstände Neu- land betreten haben. Und damit ist es so etwas wie eine Pionierleistung. Es ist nicht nur eine Wei- terentwicklung, sondern es war zuerst etwas Des- truktives, um zu was Konstruktivem zu kommen. Was hat Sie denn bei diesem ganzen Prozess per- sönlich angetrieben? Mich hat wirklich brennend interessiert, ob wir es schaffen. Es ging tatsächlich darum. Es stand eine These im Raum, verbunden mit einem Ziel. Ich habe eigentlich vom ersten Tag an daran geglaubt. Manchmal hatte ich auch Zweifel, aber in Summe habe ich immer daran geglaubt und gesagt: Das will ich jetzt nachweisen, dass das wirklich funktioniert. Und da war der Widerstand teilweise fast ein Antrieb für mich. Nach dem Motto: Jetzt erst recht. Was genau wollten Sie beweisen? Es gibt ja diese RoE-Formel. Return-on-Engineering. Der zentrale Punkt ist der, dass wir mit dem StreetScooter nach einer Umsetzungsmöglichkeit gesucht haben, um zu beweisen, dass das, was wir behaupten, tatsächlich funktioniert. So gesehen ist die Erfolgsgeschichte des StreetScooters „nur“ ein Fallbeispiel. Mit einer Formel kann ich schön was behaupten und ein anderer kann das Gegen- teil behaupten – und jetzt, was machen wir? Da aufzuhören war mir einfach zu wenig. Da wollte ich nicht stehen bleiben, sondern den Beweis antre- ten. Mein Motto war: Wir zeigen das jetzt erst mal an einem Beispiel, dass es funktioniert, und lernen gleichzeitig, wie es gehen kann. Denn was wir am Anfang nicht hatten, war die Blaupause, wie man es machen muss. Wir haben ja nur daran geglaubt, dass es Amerika gibt, wie ich dahin komme und wie weit das weg ist? Keine Ahnung. The main point is that we have been looking for a way to implement the StreetScooter, to prove that our idea actually works. In this regard, the success story of the StreetScooter is “just“ a case study. With a formula, I can make a claim and another can claim the opposite – and now, what do we do? Giving up was not an option. That is not where I wanted to remain, I wanted the evidence to show. My motto was: we will now show for the first time, with an example, that it works and learn at the same time how it can work. Because what we did not have in the beginning was the blueprint of how to do it. We only believed that America existed, but how to get there, and how far away it was? No idea.
