Was wollten Sie sich und der Welt beweisen? Wir wollten demonstrieren, dass es mög- lich ist, in kurzer Zeit, mit einem kleinen Team und wenig Investition ein Fahrzeug in Serie zu bringen. Etwas also das selbstverständlich nie- mandem in der Automobilindustrie selbstver- ständlich ist. Warum nicht? Wenn man betrachtet, welcher Aufwand heutzutage betrieben wird, um ein Fahrzeug in Serie zu bringen – da wurden wir anfangs belä- chelt. Niemand hat einen Erfolg für möglich gehal- ten. Es wurde zwar eingeräumt, dass wir den For- schungsanteil unserer Arbeit realisieren könnten, aber niemand ist davon ausgegangen, dass das Auto jemals in Serie gehen würde. Nicht mit einem solch kleinen Team. Man bräuchte Millionen, wenn nicht Milliarden an Invest – daher würde unser Vorhaben nicht gelingen. Sie hatten also weniger mit Widerständen als mit Vorurteilen zu kämpfen? Genau. In der Automobilindustrie sind alle Unternehmen groß, sehr etabliert und die meis- ten bereits jahrzehntelang aktiv. Darüber hinaus ist die Anzahl der Unternehmen begrenzt, sodass die Akteure sich untereinander kennen und eine Art Community bilden. In dieser Automobilindus- trie wurden wir anfangs vielfach belächelt. Nie- mand dort hat daran geglaubt, dass unser Konzept aufgehen würde. Das heißt, die Konzeptidee war immer öffentlich? All companies in the automotive industry are large, very well established and most of them have been active for decades. In addition, the number of companies is limited so that the players know each other and form a kind of com- munity. In this automobile industry, we were ini- tially dismissed. No one there believed that our concept would bear fruit. Does this mean that the concept idea was always public? Yes, from the onset we have been very open and transparent. We invited and integrated people, and thus presented our concept publicly in many ways. For us as a university, this was always meant to be a demonstration case.
