Finally, we dedicate this book to the hundreds of thousands whose lives were and will be lost prematurely to COVID-19; to the health care workers, caregivers, and front line responders who have accepted increased risk to their own health and life to care for others; and to all those harmed by COVID-19 and the responses. The des- tiny of humanity is interconnected and precarious. In that context, we have sought to shine a light on a new vulnerability and how some are much more vulnerable than others.
