Authors and co-authors Maurizio Aceto Prof. Maurizio Aceto obtained a Degree in Chemistry at the Università degli Studi di Torino (Italy) in 1988 and a PhD in Chemical Sciences at the same University in 1993. From 1997 to 2017 he has been Research Assistant at the Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale (UPO) in Alessandria (Italy); in 2017 he was appointed Associate Pro- fessor at the same University. In UPO he teaches courses in the field of analytical chem- istry. His main research interests deal with characterisation of colorants on painting and textile artworks, using non-invasive and micro-invasive techniques. His research interests concern application of X-ray spectroscopic techniques to the charac- terisation of materials of artistic-archaeological interest, with several experiences at inter- national and national facilities (ESRF, ISIS) and research institutes (Getty Research In- stitute). His focus is on the application of non-invasive techniques and, in particular, he is developing a quantitative approach based on X-ray fluorescence for the study of light matrices (glass and enamel). Rita Araújo Rita Araújo holds a PhD in Conservation Science from the Faculty of Sciences and Tech- nology – New University of Lisbon and is currently a researcher at REQUIMTE and Institute of Medieval Studies (IEM). Her research subjects focus on the study of book- binding materials and techniques and their importance in the conservation of illuminated manuscripts.
