Arelape#
Arelape, Roman settlement mentioned in the work of the Greek geographer Ptolemy (ca. 90-168 A.D.), in the Tabula Peutingeriana, in the Itinerarium Antonini and in the Notitia Dignitatum, base of a fleet commander in late Antiquity (Praefectus classis Arlapensis) and a cavalry unit (Equites Dalmatae); now Poechlarn. The settlement's name was borrowed from the name of the river (now the River Erlauf).
