Austria Metall AG, AMAG#
Austria Metall AG, AMAG, Austria's largest aluminium producer, located at Ranshofen, Upper Austria. Its electrolytic plant, built in 1938 and nationalised in 1946 ( Nationalised Industry) was closed down in 1992. In 1996 the company was privatised through a management buyout by K. Hammerer in cooperation with Constantia-Iso Holding AG. AMAG now operates a rolling mill and pressing plant as well as a primary and a secondary aluminium foundry; an aluminium tube pressing plant at Unna, Germany, also forms part of the enterprise. In 1997/98 AMAG, with a staff of 1661, recorded group sales in the order of ATS 8 billion.
