Baum, Vicki#
b. Vienna, Jan. 24, 1888, d. Hollywood (USA), Aug. 29, 1960, writer. Initially a musician (harpist), she took up editorial work in Berlin in 1926; emigrated to the USA in 1931; married to the conductor R. Lert. Wrote popular fiction containing gripping details of different social milieus; translated into many languages and partly adapted for the screen. 1933-1945 her books were blacklisted in Germany.
