Baumgartner, Ulrich#

b. Berlin (Germany), March 20, 1918, d. Graz (Styria), Aug. 18, 1984, manager of cultural events and director. At the age of 17 assistant in the commercials department at the Universum Film Company (UFA), after 1945 art editor and artistic director in Graz, organized the Kapfenberg Festival in Styria. 1964-1977 artistic director of the Vienna Festival, brought ballet into the programme. Founded the "Arena", an alternative festival to traditional "highbrow" events and worked at the avant-garde festival steirischer herbst in Graz.
