Beer-Hofmann, Richard#
b. Vienna, July 11, 1866, d. New York (USA), Sept. 26, 1945, novelist, dramatist, poet, grew up in Bruenn (Brno), studied law in Vienna, worked for M. Reinhardt as a director 1924-1932. 1938 emigrated to Switzerland and then to the USA. A friend of A. Schnitzler, H. von Hofmannsthal and H. Bahr. He employed highly ornamental and rhythmic language (Art Nouveau). His narrative "Georg´s Death" ("Der Tod Georgs", 1900) is an early example of the inner monologue. 1946 founded the B. H. Society in New York.
