Bobsport#
Bobsledding: Bobsleds with a steering mechanism and special sleighs which are ridden face down (skeletons) originate from Switzerland and were first introduced to Austria in 1905/1906 at Muerzzuschlag (Styria): these rather exclusive disciplines are increasingly practised on artificial ice runs (the only such run in Austria is situated at Innsbruck-Igls); the Austrian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association (OeBSV) was founded in 1922 and, in 1993, comprised 29 associations with 695 members.
