After engagements at the Reinhardt-Buehnen in Berlin and Vienna and performances at the Salzburg Festival (1935-1939), D. performed at the Volkstheater in Vienna; from 1939 a member of the company at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna (acting in social comedies, classical and modern plays, often epitomizing the "society lady"). Received numerous awards, including the Kainz Medal from the City of Vienna; D. was the first actress to be awarded the honorary title of Kammerschauspielerin without having performed at the Vienna Burgtheater; also worked in film and television.
