Deutsch, Helene, b. Przemýsl (Poland), Oct. 9, 1884, d. Cambridge (USA), April 29, 1982. Physician, psychoanalyst, psychoanalysed by S. Freud, in 1918 joined the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society, from 1924 headed its newly-founded educational institute until her emigration to the USA in 1935; she then lived and worked in Boston; D. became well known for her work on the psychology of women.
